ORDER

 

Dated Aizawl, the 12th December, 2016.

 

 

 

 

WHEREAS, the State Election Commission, Mizoram, in pursuance of Government approval No. C. 31015/2/2015-DCA (M), dt. 13.10.2016 for conduct of By-Election to Chhaolo-II Village Council Constituency, ordered for Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls for Chhaolo-II Village Council Constituency during the period from 1.11.2016 – 15.11.2016 and Final Electoral Rolls were published on 15.11.2016 as per schedule.

 

AND, WHEREAS, the State Election Commission after having completed Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls announced the schedule of election to Chhaolo-II Village Council Constituency on 16.11.2016.

 

AND, WHEREAS, complaints and appeals on the Electoral Rolls were received from Political Parties on the issue of non ordinary residents enrolled in the Electoral Rolls of the Chhaolo-II Village Council Constituency and consensus could not be arrived at by the concerned parties.  The District Magistrate, Siaha is of the opinion that conduct of free, fair and peaceful elections could not be possible in the present situation.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, the State Election Commission hereby orders that By-Election to Chhaolo-II Village Council Constituency scheduled to be conducted on 15.12.2016 be deferred till such time as the Village Council Constituency boundaries are notified by the Local Administration Department, Mara Autonomous District Council.
