Dated Aizawl,  the 3^rd  November , 2015

Subject:                Definition of Public Holiday on Election Programme.

                                    It is hereby clarified that as defined in section 2(h) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, ‘public holiday’ means any day which is a public holiday for the purposes of section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. Therefore, local holidays including Saturdays of the month where these are observed as holidays for Government Offices, shall not be treated as “Public Holidays” for the purpose of filing nominations, etc in connection with the General Election to Lai Autonomous District Council scheduled to be held on 26^th November, 2015.
