ORDER
Dated Aizawl, the 17th April, 2023
In exercise of the powers conferred under sub-rule (5) of Rule 7 of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (Constitution, Conduct of Business, etc.) Rules, 2002 as amended, read with Para II (f) of the Model Code of Conduct for the Election Conducted by State Election Commission, Mizoram in order to ensure free and fair General Election to Members of District Council under Chakma Autonomous District Council, 2023 on 9th May, 2023, the Commission hereby orders that within the period of 48 hours ending with the hours fixed for conclusion of poll i.e. between 5:00 P.M. of 7th May, 2023 and 5:00 P.M. of 9th May, 2023, no person, in any polling area, shall –
a) convene, hold or attend, join or address any public meeting or procession in connection with an election; or
b) display to the public any election matter by means of cinematograph, television or other similar apparatus; or
c) publish opinion poll / exit poll; or
d) send bulk SMS for campaigning; or
e) propagate any election matter to the public by holding, or by arranging the holding of, any musical concert or any theatrical performance or any other entertainment or amusement with a view to attracting the members of the public thereto, to any polling area during the forty eight hours ending with the hour fixed for conclusion of the poll for any election in that polling area.
