Dated Aizawl, the 16th January, 2025

No.B.12011/2/2024-SEC/VC/29     : In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 243K of the Constitution of India read with sub-rule(1) of Rule 3 of the Mizoram (Election to Village Councils) Rules, 2014 as amended and all other powers enabling it in this behalf, the State Election Commission, Mizoram, hereby, issues a list of National Parties, State Parties and Registered Unrecognized Political Parties within the State of Mizoram as per list of Political Parties issued by Election Commission of India, 2024 for general information in connection with the General Election to Village Councils within Aizawl, Lunglei, Serchhip, Champhai, Mamit, Kolasib, Saitual, Khawzawl and Hnahthial Districts scheduled to be held on 12th February, 2025, (Wednesday), as :

 

 

  1. National Parties:
  2. Aam Aadmi Party, Symbol - Broom
  3. Bahujan Samaj Party, Symbol - Elephant
  4. Bharatiya Janata Party, Symbol – Lotus
  5. Communist Party of India (Marxist), Symbol – Hammer, Sickle and Star
  6. Indian National Congress, Symbol - Hand
  7. National People’s Party, Symbol – Book

 

  1. State Parties:
  2. Mizo National Front, Symbol - Star
  3. Zoram Nationalist Party, Symbol - Sun (without rays)
  4. Zoram People’s Movement, Symbol - Hat

 

  1. Registered Unrecognized Political Parties:
  2. Hmar Peoples Convention
  3. Maraland Democratic Front
  4. Mizoram People’s Conference
  5. Peoples Representation for Identity and Status of Mizoram (PRISM) Party

 

            It is further stated that “Book” has been allotted as the reserved symbol of National People’s Party. Hence, ‘book’ in the list of free symbols provided by the Mizoram (Election to Village Councils) Rules, 2014 as amended shall not be allotted to any other candidate as it is already reserved for the candidates sponsored by National People’s Party.
