Dated Aizawl, the 14th February, 2025
In exercise of the powers vested under Article 243K of the Constitution of India read with sub-section (7) of Section 3 of The Chakma Autonomous District Council (Village Councils) Act, 2002 as amended, the State Election Commission, Mizoram hereby orders that, in so far as the Chakma Autonomous District Council (Village Councils) Act, 2002 as amended, the Chakma Autonomous District Council (Election to Village Councils) Rules, 2007 as amended and Handbook for Returning Officers & Presiding Officers are silent, vague or unclear on any matter in connection with General Election to Village Councils under Chakma Autonomous District Council, 2025, the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961 and standing instructions and guidelines of the Election Commission of India, as much as it relates to the General Election to Village Councils under Chakma Autonomous District Council, 2025 shall be adopted in principle and spirit.
