ORDER

 

Dated Aizawl, the 11th June, 2018.

 

                   In exercise of the powers conferred under sub-rule (5) of Rule 3 of the Lai Autonomous District Council (Election to Village Councils) (Amendment) Rules, 2011 read with Para II (6) of the Model Code of Conduct for the Elections to the Village Councils under Autonomous District Council and in order to ensure free and fair By-Election to Village Councils under Lai  Autonomous District Council on 26th June, 2018, the Commission hereby orders that within the period of 48 hours ending with the hour fixed for conclusion of poll i.e. between 5:00pm of 24th June, 2018 and 5:00pm of 26th June, 2018, no person, in any polling area shall –

 

  1. convene, hold or attend, join or address any public meeting or procession in connection with an election; or
  2. display to the public any election matter by means of cinematograph, television or other similar apparatus; or
  3. publish opinion poll / exit poll; or
  4. Send bulk SMS for campaigning; or
  5. Propagate any election matter to the public by holding, or by arranging the holding of, any musical concert or any theatrical performance or any other entertainment or amusement with a view to attracting the members of the public thereto.
