ORDER

Dated Aizawl, the 17^th November, 2015

WHEREAS, in pursuance of the order passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court on 19.1.2009 in Writ Petition (C) No.207 and in line with the Guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India on 17.2.2009, the result of opinion/exit polls carried out at any time, cannot be published, publicized or disseminated in any manner, whatsoever, by print, electronic or any media during the period of 48 hours ending with the hour fixed for conclusion of poll;

WHEREAS, in the current General Election to Lai Autonomous District Council, 2015, poll is scheduled to be held on 26^th November, 2015 and the hour fixed for conclusion of Poll is 4:00 PM;

NOW THEREFORE, the State Election Commission hereby orders that the results of opinion/exit polls should not be published/disseminated in any manner, whatsoever, by print, electronic or any media from 4:00 PM of 24.11.2015 to 4:00 PM of 26.11.2015.

It is further clarified that-

a) ‘Electronic Media’ includes Radio and Television – both Government owned and Private, and covers satellite/DTH, Terrestrial and Cable channels.

b) ‘Dissemination’ includes publication in any newspaper, magazine or periodical, or display on electronic media, or circulation by means of any pamphlet, poster, placard, handbill and any other documents.
