Dated Aizawl, the 22nd January, 2021
In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 27 of the Mizoram Municipalities Act, 2007, as amended and Rules 10, 99 & 102 of the Mizoram Municipalities (Election of Councillors) Rules, 2007, as amended, read with Para II (f) of the Model Code of Conduct for the Elections Conducted by State Election Commission, Mizoram in order to ensure free and fair General Election to Aizawl Municipal Corporation, 2021 on 16th February, 2021, the Commission hereby orders that within the period of 48 hours ending with the hours fixed for conclusion of poll i.e. between 4:00PM of 16th February, 2021 and 4:00PM of 14th February, 2021, no person, in any polling area, shall –
- convene, hold or attend, join or address any public meeting or procession in connection with an election; or
- display to the public any election matter by means of cinematograph, television or other similar apparatus; or
- publish opinion poll / exit poll; or
- send bulk SMS for campaigning; or
- propagate any election matter to the public by holding, or by arranging the holding of, any musical concert or any theatrical performance or any other entertainment or amusement with a view to attracting the members of the public thereto, to any polling area during the forty eight hours ending with the hour fixed for conclusion of the poll for any election in that polling area.
