ORDER

 

Dated Aizawl, the 22nd November, 2016

 

          In exercise of the powers conferred under sub-rule (1) of Rule 3 of the Mara Autonomous District Council (Election to Village Councils) Rules, 2014 read with Para II(f) of the Model Code of Conduct for Elections to the Autonomous District Councils and in order to ensure free and fair By-Election to 8 (eight) Village Councils under Mara Autonomous District Council on 15th December, 2016, the Commission hereby orders that within the period of 48 hours ending with the hours fixed for conclusion of poll i.e. between 4:00 p.m. of 13th December, 2016  and 4:00 p.m. of 15th December, 2016, no person, in any polling area, shall –

 

a. convene, hold or attend, join or address any public meeting or procession in connection with an election; or

 

b. display to the public any election matter by means of cinematograph, television or other similar apparatus; or

 

c. publish opinion poll / exit poll; or

 

d. send bulk SMS for campaigning; or

 

e. propagate any election matter to the public by holding, or by arranging the holding of, any musical concert or any theatrical performance or any other entertainment or amusement with a view to attracting the members of the public thereto.
